Ullas finished and Donna's arrived

I finished up the square on Ulla's RR and here is a snap -

Ulla requested that we include a pumpkin in whatever we stitched so I picked a fall scene - from PS book 50 - Prairie Seasons - I stitched the bottom part of Autumn - I really liked the pumpkin scarecrow. I will be sending this piece out this week to keep them moving along.

I also received Donna's RR on Friday so I will move on to that - but what to stitch???

Vonna's RR

Vonna, your RR is on it's way to Carol and here's a photo how it looks like now. I stitched Prairie schoolers Night Owl from the JCS Halloween issue. When I now watching a photo of RR I see that I stitch too big initials. You can replace them if you want to.

For some reason, I was thinking the mail out date was November 9th... Then I realized November 9th was a Sunday... Where is my head?

Vonna - Edgar's RR is on it's way to you tomorrow! Excuse the horrible picture... no natural light.

I stitched "Boo Pumpkin" from Homespun Elegance out of the JCS Halloween issue. I left out the "Boo" on the pumpkin, though. Hope you like it, Edgar!

Terry - I have received Carol's RR in the mail. Now comes the hard part... deciding what to stitch!

Ulla's Pumpkins

Since Mike and I spent the evening watching DVD's, I had a great opportunity to stitch up Ulla's RR tonight... will post it off to Edgar tomorrow... I hope you like my block, Ulla. I have wanted to stitch this little Praiseworthy Stitches design for a while now, and your RR seemed to be a great chance to do so. I couldn't decide about stitching their trademake "PS" on it, but finally decided to do it since it balanced the design well... I hope that works OK for you...

Pumpkin Feast

Praiseworthy Stitches

I am not sure if Ulla has had a chance to see her RR since she initially mailed it off... so here you go, this is how it looks with my and Shelley's sqaures done now. For those who do not know, Ulla wants to make pillows with her finished RR, so she sent two pieces of linen, four blocks each. Very cute!

Keep an eye out for this, Edgar.

Hannah, Carol's RR will be

going out in Saturday's mail to you :). I'll post a picture as soon as the camera is back. One of the kids has it. I hope you like it Carol.

Terry's RR

Well, I finally finished Terry's RR. I had a hard time finding the floss for the pumpkin when I ran out! Sorry Vonna! I stitched "Hauntsville" by Glory Bee! Hop on over to my blog to win the chart. I am doing a giveaway.

I hope you like it, Terry!

Vonna - it's going in the mail tomorrow.

I currently have Edgar's RR in my possession. I am about halfway done with it. Edgar - I decided to stitch a design from the JCS Halloween issue instead of the Brittercup design. I guess you'll have to wait to see which one!

Update on members!

Hi All,

Just to let you know that Shelley is withdrawing from the group due to illness. I've redid the mailing order and I've sent everyone the new edited list. We will just go with the 7 that we have left. It's almost too hard to find another stitcher at this time and I think we are all in agreement to just leave the group as it is.

So, hoping that everyone is having a good day! It's Friday! And, I don't have a football game to attend tonight! I'm thrilled!!!!!! Me time!!!!!!

Smile, Fall is here, sweater weather is beckoning us in GA! Joy!

Hi,
Well, it is now Septemeber 21, and I have not received from Shelley. I emailed her with no reply several days ago. I am very nervous. With so much going on, I fear I will not be able to mail to Edgar on time in November. Shelley, I really need to hear from you and if you have not finished Ulla's RR, what are you going to do??

Thanks,
Carol

Getting a start...

.... on Carols piece. I had originally chose another house to stitch but when I started to get it going it was way out of proportion to the first. I pulled out that house out and chose another. Here is the beginning...

The floss I am using for the body of the house is called cinders and I just love it!!

Edgar's RR

Hey Edgar, I put three black chickens on this one just for you since you liked them, LOL. Hannah, they are winging themselves to you today!!

Hannah's RR

Here's what I stitched for Hannah's RR...I chose to stitch the "cat in the moon" by Prairie Schooler from the leaflet entitled "Pumpkin Patch".

Here's the whole layout....I really like it:

Here's my humble part:
I fell sort of skimpy that is all I stitched, but I think it goes well with Hannah's theme stitching from the same leaflet...and the new Halloween one from Prairie Schooler has a 4 patch with great designs that would work too....just my 0.02 worth...

HEADS UP Donna....this beauty is coming your way! (tomorrow)

My start on Edgar's RR

I haven't forgotten you Edgar, here is a start on my part of your RR. It is taken from one of the new Prairie Schoolers. I hope you like it.

Finished up Barbara Ana's Colorful Witch last night - she now has her familiar and quite a few other friends with her! I am going to re-read her instructions tonight to see if I am supposed to sign this block in any way... and then Edgar, get your eyes peeled for it, as I will put it out in tomorrow's mail to SF!

Thank you, Shelley, for the honor of stitching on your RR! I loved every second of it, and I sure hope you like my choice!! {{{HUGS}}} OK... bring on the next one - LOL!

A Peek

I promise, I did not think I had to pretend to be dead to participate in this RR! Sorry not to have been too talkative, hopefully I will be able to participate more now. :)

I forgot to take a pic of the fabric for my piece. You'll all be seeing it anyway eventually, right? It's sort of a no-color, every-color mix Solo by Silkweaver. I bought it years ago, and finally found a use for it!

I just wanted to give a little peek at what I'm stitching for Ulla.

Like Ulla, I love pumpkins, but I found my stash was mostly Jack-o-lanterns. This little fellow is part of a trio I took out of a larger piece by A Stitcher's Hand. I believe that company is now out of business.

I pulled out ALL of my Halloween stash, and have big plans for some spooky S.E.X. as the RR continues... Plum Street Samplers has a great new one, have you seen it?

Cheers - or shivers,
Shelley

Ulla's RR

Here's my pumpkin RR which I sent to Shelley last week. I decided to choose two 32ct amber linen because I want to finish them as a two pillow. My theme is pumpkins so you can stitch anything with pumpkin on it. It could be fallish or halloweenish, it's stitchers choice. Stitching area is 58x58. To my area I stitched part of 4 My Boys' Autumn Splendor chart.

Hi guys, can Ulla and Shelley let me know have you sent yet? I'd also like if you all can kinda keep your blog up to date? I know most of you do, but since I have had previous problems with another RR, I keep track of everybody that way.
And, most of all, please don't hesitate to email me. I'm very excited about this RR. It is gonna be so cool!
Vonna, I've got your's in the frame and ready to go!

Terry's RR

Hi Terry! I just wanted to post a quick note to let you know I received your RR in the mail today. It's gorgeous! Now... I just have to pick the perfect design for it :)

-Hannah

The sky's the limit!

You can stitch funny, scary, halloween related items in each room, if you want a pumpkin on a chair, go for it! Witch? go for it! Bones? Perfect! Any Halloween critters is fine!
I'll have to check out that issue!
Donna

Halloween Stitchers... Have you seen....

.... Nora Corbett's stunning new Halloween Fairy in the new issue of Cross Stitch & Needlework??? Just got mine yesterday and may have to drop EVERYTHING to stitch her up! Check it out! My scanner is down, but maybe I can get DH to scan it tonight and post a photo!

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

Mine is in the mail today!

Ulla, I mailed mine today! The way mine is set up is: everyone can choose a room to stitch, or someone can choose the roof section and sky area to stitch! I will add the tombstones later with everyone's initials and the fence once I get it back! Please stitch your name in the room that you stitch in. Please make it small as not to overpower everyone's wonderful stitching!

I'm glad this is up and running!

RR in SF

Carol - your RR made it here yesterday just fine - that is some gorgeous linen -
all splotchy grey - I think I need some of that stuff!!!

Terry - mine is going out this morning - so it should be to you in a day or two.

Take care,

Monday, July 14, 2008

As finished as it gets.... for now -

Here is how my RR is leaving my clutches -

I still want to get something in the lower left corner and some spot stitching - hex signs ?? - something scattered about - I am pretty happy with the way the little quote looks - after frogging out some really sucky letters and floss - This looks way better - IMHO.

Vonna's RR finished and to be mailed to Donna

WHEW! The majority of this weekend was spent stitching this RR...I finally slipped the last stitch in pumpkin face just a few short minutes ago! Thank heaven it is i finished!

Here is my layout to date - graciously held outside by my daughter Katie:

This is an inside shot - thus a bit darker:

I used primarily Blackbird Designs for this one
(the Trix or Treat Crow, the pumpkin verse and the Jack-o-lantern is BBD. The tree/cat/pumpkin is Plum Pudding Needleart- portion from Salem Inn design)
I can sleep easy tonight knowing its packed and waiting mailing to Donna tomorrow.
I guess my "theme" is antique sampler...but really anything will do there are squares on each side of the crow and three at the top and three at the bottom for a total of 8...so I guess that means I'll have to stitch another block when it gets home...right now my brain ain't computin' so there ya have it!
Now to start my Summer House Exchange....argh! Too many deadlines!!!
HUGS to all Witchy Stitcher's...I think today I may have to change the "w" to a "b" to suit my mood! LOL!

Hannah, My RR is being

mailed first thing in the morning!! I, too, am sending it priority mail. Let me know if you have any questions..

Saturday, July 12, 2008

Mailed mine to Edgar

I mailed my Haunted Halloween Neighborhood off to edgar today... I used Priority Mail, and since mail is very fast between NH and SF, CA anyhow, it should be there very soon ;-) I cannot wait to see this when it gets home!

Thursday, July 10, 2008

Finished my part of my Neighborhood!

I finished my part of my Haunted Halloween Neighborhood tonight :-) Tomorrow I shall sit down and write my introduction letter and instructions, and will mail this off to Edgar on Saturday... I cannot wait to see the rest of these RR's now!

Finished the center section

and it is probably all I will get done before I send it out. The border will have to be finished when it gets back to me. :). there are buttons to put on around the lettering, but that will be done when it is back too. I will probably mail it out to my person on Monday, after I get it ironed and some stuff written up.

Monday, July 7, 2008

My Halloween RR

is coming along finally. I've gotten most of the house done, there is still a spooky tree to stitch along side the house. There are 4 squares above and below the house for everyone to stitch on :)..

Sunday, July 6, 2008

My Halloween Neighborhood

I have finally started my RR - here is the first two nights' work. I noticed my theme over in the sidebar is not fully correct. My theme is a Halloween Neighborhood... I am not going to block of squares, they are too limiting. Rather four people stitch in the row I am in, and four below it... I will make those directions clearer on an instruction page. If you cannot find a Halloween house, an autumnal house will work just as fine ;-) My fabric is Enchanted Fabrics 32 ct Stormy Night Belfast Linen.

She is really starting to look like something -

Saturday, June 28, 2008

I finally got a

little more done on my RR. Wow, it was a busy week. Here is the basted outline of mine. there is a little area of a couple inches that shows what the border will be like around all the basted areas... My fabric is Enchanted Fabrics Witches Brew Linen 32ct. In the center of the layout will be Barbara Ana's Haunted Halloween House and on either side of the house cute Halloween sayings.

One wacky Pumpkin

Here is the progress from last night -

That "Black Coffee" blog to the right is an arm. I had to change out the colours for the stem and pumpkin ( I like these better anyway) as the charted ones disappeared into the linen.

Take care,

Question about my Spooky House?

I'm hoping that no one will mind, but some one will have a smaller area to stitch. That person will get to stitch inside the roof sections. The roof is in two smaller areas. I'm not gonna stitch the tombstones until everyone is finished! I'll plan to add everyone's initials to each tombstone. I need to find a tombstone pattern first. I am loving this idea!
Hope everyone has a great day!

A little stitching

A Halloween/Autumn Neighborhood

I hope this is OK with everyone... I have decided that I want my RR to be a Halloween/Autumn neighborhood. I am just still searching for the perfect fabric. I will include some charts to help you out.... if you cannot find a house that is specifically Halloween, that is fine - a house with pumpkins, scarecrows, black cats, etc would be wonderful!

I am very much looking forward to this starting - thanks, Donna, for sending the mailing rotation today ;-)

I think this is my fabric And a Question

This is just a picture of it from Enchanted Fabrics, I am hoping it will arrive today or tomorrow. It is a 32ct belfast. Now as far as a plan, ummm, my creative section of my brain is temporarily shut down, but I'll work on it this week..:)..
Okay now the question... I know many of you stitch more serious subjects and may not be into cute for Halloween. I have a lot of cute Halloween and I have serious Halloween. Since I was thinking of using this RR in my daycare, I was thinking of going cute. Would you hate stitching cute? Be honest. I won't be offended at all, LOL. I understand..

My linen arrives!

Check it out! It looks better in real life! Gonna start drafting out my ideas now!
I'll email everyone the rotation schedule sometime tomorrow!
Witching you a great evening!

Ahhhh! Help!!

Okay, since my RR is going to be more fall themed I have decided that I would like to try to use LHN's Acorn Hill as the center design. However, I am having a few problems.

First - The pattern calls for CC Belle Soie Silk threads. If I stitch the design in silks, will my RR look silly if others use cottons?

Second - I'd love to stitch it in cottons. Does anyone have the pattern and know if there is a conversion on it for other threads?

Third - I can't find a place ANYWHERE that sells the recommended Lakeside Linens Vintage Lentil linen... in ANY count, let alone 32. I will need a piece that is atleast 25 x 14. I am open to other fabrics, but I am HORRIBLE at picking them.

I spent about 4 hours designing a 9 squared layout yesterday, but I have decided I do not like it. I didn't leave a place anywhere for names and locations :( I have decided I would like a sampler type design in the center of my piece with 4 squares on each side. Maybe I should forget the Acorn Hill pattern altogether and pick another design. The only thing is that the design needs to be about 130 long by atleast 50 wide.

Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? Thank you!

Vonna's Spooky RR

Hello Fellow Spooky Stitchers!
I've spent the last 4+ hours working on graphing out/laying out my Halloween RR and I think it is FINISHED!!! (well the graphing - that is... I still have to do the fabric layout and block bastings...and the stitching too but....I'm not thinking about that YET!)

I have a stained this 32 ct. linen to use for the RR:

And my contribution to the RR is going to be the center block as the Crow with the Witches hat on that says "Trix or Treat" and then above that I'm stitching the "Merry Halloween" as seen in this photos of the cover and interior page of Blackbird Designs book "Trix or Treat":

Then I have around these two stacked central squares a "U" shape with 4 side squares (2 on each side) that measures 50W x 50H with a 50W x 10H "signature block" beneath each square. And then the across the bottom of the RR (forming the U) is 3 blocks that measure 60W x 60H with a 60W x 10H signature block below each square.
Framing the whole "DEAL" is a primitive border that I think I'm going to do in a dark blackish color.
Total stitched area of the piece: 238 x 236 - which translates into a stitched area of: 14 3/4 x 14 3/4....almost the perfect size for what I'm wanting to do with it when completed - which is make a Seasonal Quilt using this fabric (If I win it on ebay):

And then hang it in my foyer on my quilt rack for my seasonal displays! HURRAY! Think it will all come together? I sure do hope so!

Thanks for looking ;) I love it when my ideas firm up into something tangible!
